| Questions about Acupuncture Therapy: |
| Q: How does it work? |
| A: Acupuncture harmonizes and balances the energy (Chi) that flows through the body. In a healthy person, energy moves smoothly along continuous channels throughout the body called meridians. When the balance is disturbed, the person suffers pain or illness.
Stimulation of specific points along the meridians encourages the functions of the organs and creates a balanced state of energy.
Acupunture causes the brain to release endorphins, natural substances that reduce and control pain and the emotional stress that frequently accompanies it. Following acupuncture, people often notice an increase in energy, skin rejuvenation, deeper relaxation, and more restful sleep. |

| Q: Is there any discomfort? |
| A: Patients are often surprised to find that acupuncture therapy is a relaxing, and calming experience that is accompanied by a feeling of well-being.
Acupuncture needles are very thin, about the diameter of a strand of thread, and they are inserted and removed easily. Because they are so thin, and because insertion is shallow, the therapy is virtually painless. Some people even go to sleep during the treatment. |

| Q: What are the benefits? |
| A: Western medicine has begun to recognize acupuncture as a primary-care therapy in eliminating pain and disease and strengthening the body's immune system. A safe, non-addictive therapy with no side effects, acupuncture is very effective in treating and improving a wide range of conditions. |
